PRIVACY INFORMATION · 19 OCTOBER 2026

Your memories.
Your privacy.

How Memries handles information in its current development version, guest companion and website.

Who is responsible

Memries is operated by Ignacy Starczyński STARCZYNSKI, the data controller.
Jana Kilińskiego 51, 28-100 Busko-Zdrój, Poland
NIP (Polish tax identifier): 6551992472

What Memries handles, and why

Accounts: your name, email, account identifier and sign-in/session information are used to provide account access and identify your contributions. Email/password authentication is handled by the authentication service. If you choose Google sign-in, Google provides your Google account identifier, name and email for your Memries account; Memries does not receive your Google password or request access to Gmail, Drive, calendars or contacts.

Shared memories: Memries stores Film and Tape names, covers, settings, times, invitations and membership, along with photos, voice recordings, avatars and author names you provide. Associated information includes capture/upload times, file type, image dimensions, recording duration and an audio waveform. These data make collection, reveal, playback and permitted downloads work.

Guests: joining an event can use a guest identifier and display name without an email account. Connecting that guest participation to an account links the membership and contributions to that account.

Service operation: content reports, moderation actions, request/error information and rate-limit identifiers help operate and protect the service. Infrastructure and sign-in providers also process connection information. If enabled and used, notifications involve an installation identifier and push token; App Store purchases involve product/transaction identifiers and verification records. Memries does not receive payment-card details from the App Store.

Who can see information

Someone with an invitation can see its event title, cover and host name and may be able to join. Participants can see author names and contribution information. Access to the photos and audio follows the event’s membership, reveal and visibility settings. Hosts can manage participants, review reports and remove content. Share invitation links only with the intended group.

Neon provides authentication, database, file storage and API hosting. Google provides Google sign-in. Apple services are used for notification and App Store features when available and used. Apple sign-in is being configured and is not currently available. The website is delivered through ChatGPT Sites. These providers process information needed for their part of the service. Media storage is private and authorized access uses temporary links; media is not end-to-end encrypted.

The current Memries backend uses a United States hosting region. Service providers may also process information outside your country. For provider information, see Neon’s privacy information, Google’s Privacy Policy and Apple’s privacy information. Contact us about the arrangements applying to your Memries information.

Memries does not use advertising or cross-app tracking in this development version.

Storage and removal

Closing or revealing an event does not itself delete its memories. Removing a photo, recording or event ends its ordinary app access and queues associated file cleanup in the background. Some database records remain, including removal status and related membership, moderation or transaction records; file removal is not the same as erasing every record. Temporary upload, sign-in and export links expire, and cleanup jobs handle certain expired temporary data. These expiries are not a retention deadline for the whole account or event.

Self-service deletion of email/Google accounts is currently unavailable. Use hello@starczynski.com to request help with account data or deletion. Event content is not automatically erased when an account becomes inactive. We cannot currently give a single deletion or backup-erasure deadline for all service records. Copies already downloaded by participants are outside Memries’ control.

The iPhone app stores session credentials in Keychain and captures awaiting upload on the device. The guest companion uses browser storage for event access and pending uploads. Downloaded/exported copies may remain on your device. Clearing local storage can lose contributions that have not uploaded.

Your choices and contact

Choose what you contribute and manage camera, microphone, photo-library and notification permissions in device or browser settings. Accepted photos are re-encoded on upload, removing embedded EXIF/location metadata. Access permissions and temporary links do not prevent a person who can view or download a memory from keeping a copy.

Under applicable data-protection law, you may request access to or correction of your data, erasure, restriction, portability, or object to processing. These rights have conditions and exceptions. Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting earlier lawful processing. Email hello@starczynski.com to make a request. Include enough account/event context to locate the information. Do not send a password, sign-in code or private invitation link. Your identity may need to be confirmed.

You may also complain to your data-protection supervisory authority. In Poland, this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).

Creating an email account requires an email address and sign-in credentials. Guest joining uses an invitation and guest identity. Photos and voice recordings are optional contributions; denying a device permission prevents the related capture or import function. Memries does not use automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects in this development version.

Email links open your mail application. The website host may process connection information to deliver these pages. If you email the project, the message and contact details you provide are used to handle your request.
